Meet The Vizual Interpreter

What up doe? I’m Courtney!

Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you that my connection with the arts runs deep. The truth is, I’ve had a keen eye and ear from a very young age.

Mastering several instruments, I attended a performing arts high school with the late, great Aaliyah in my hometown of Detroit.

I went on to perform with the Aretha Franklin Orchestra and eventually earned a music scholarship to Atlanta's Morris Brown College. Though I gave up the instruments (clarinet and saxophone, to be exact), my love for the music remained intact.

It also made way for other passions.

My fascination of cinematography began in the movie theater. I was intrigued by not only what I saw on screen but also the process. I'm the guy who always researches how the movie came to be, including the techniques and technology used to bring it to life.

I realized that my calling was working behind the camera.

Eventually, an opportunity came along and changed my life. I joined the video ministry at my church and learned how to operate a camera, specifically the Sony NXCam. Hungry to learn more, I asked our media director to mentor me, and he over-delivered, opening my eyes to more about the equipment and how to use it in the right settings.

I was born to create.

It wasn’t long before I mastered my first DSLR camera, the Canon T2i. I used this camera to film videos that would later be used to promote some of our radical, outside-of-the-box church services. From there, I purchased my very first camera, the Canon T7i, and started shooting my own projects.

A friend and local rap artist approached me to film his very first music video. To date, we've collabed on several other projects.

Pivoting from the music realm, I expanded my portfolio even further, producing social media and branding videos for small businesses.

Today, I combine my deep knowledge of video production and love for music and film into a powerful cinematic approach.

So, when you’re ready to translate your vision into dope vizuals, you know who to call.

I always get the shot.
